What is Sociology
Sociology is a social science that focuses on society, human social behavior, patterns of social relationships, social interaction, and aspects of culture associated with everyday life. Studying sociology provides a better understanding of the following: Reasons for social differences, including differences in social behavior. Reasons for the differentials in group opportunities and outcomes. The relevance of social hierarchies and social power in everyday life.
Students will use a variety of sources and activities to explore concepts and theories in the field of Sociology. We will examine concepts such as social norms and deviance, personality, and social identity, as well as the processes of socialization and the social institutions of our culture and the impact that family, peers, the media, and school has on our social development .
